I am soooooo in love with this skirt. This is seriously my very most favorite knit ever. I had to do quite a bit of tweaking to the pattern in order to get the fit I wanted and the fabric I wanted with the yarn I choose. I love how it turned out and the fit is absolutely perfect. I may have to change the ribbon but for now the one I used worked.
Here are the details:
Pattern: Lacy Skirt from Knit Cafe (also know as The Daktari Skirt)
Yarn: 4 full balls of Araucania Pehuen in color 04
Needles: Size 6 for the lace, size 5 for the decrease portion after the lace, size 4 for the body.
Modifications: I followed the pattern for the lace portion and decrease portion exactly as written. I wanted a tighter fabric than I was getting for the body of the skirt so I moved to a size 4 needle. I then had to figure out how many decreases I needed to do and how many rows apart in order to get the length I wanted. I wanted my skirt to be a bit shorter. I am not very tall and skirts that go past my knee do not flatter me very well. I also wanted the body of the skirt to be a bit more fitted. I accomplished my vision and it is a lovely feeling.
You are going to have to enlarge the pictures to get a better look. I love my little photographer to pieces....my nine year old Camille. And she has much improved on her picture taking skills....but they are don't always show the definition and detail that I am looking for. She loves taking the pictures though. So here is the back of the skirt. You can see it definitely shows off my not so teeny booty. Not that my booty is "big"....it is just bubbly and round. That's ok, isn't? I really don't mind at all.
I really should crop these pictures.
So another shot. This pattern is very well written and very easy to follow. It was also a very quick knit. Each panel really only took maybe 3-4 days to knit. If you want to try a knitted skirt, I recommend this pattern. I LOVE the yarn that I used. I fell in love with the yarn as soon as I saw it. The colors are very "me" and it turned out perfectly. I could not find the yarn required anywhere on line and then I read a review about the required yarn that was not too positive. I think I made the right choice.
Now - Mentionable and Rusted Root are all coming along very well. I will make a post soon.
I have also received some squares for Jenifers blanket! I will make a post of those soon too. You guys are awesome!

I must have been out of town when you posted this! I was still waiting for the pics. Keana and I were talking, and she told me you had already posted it...so I had to come find it!
Awesome job! Love how it turned out! the yarn, the ribbon, everything!

That skirt is smashing!! You look beautiful in it. Like you should be in one of the most popular knitting mags. Well, that's my opinion.

Seriously, you've had four kids! I am so jealous, but that skirt fits you perfectly!! WOW! You did a great job and you just look so great! The colors are really nice on you too. Tell Camille to keep up the good job on the picture taking too. She will be taking artsy-abstract photos before you know. LOL!
I got my squares in the mail this morning. They are coming from Tennessee so I hope it won't take too long.
