Yeah!!!! Chelsea is complete. I really, really love this sweater. It is roomy and comfortable yet stylish and the colors are soft and muted and then have the stronger green trim. I think this turned out very well.
Yarn: Artyarns Supermerino color 105 and 223
Needles: Size 9
Pattern: Chelsea from Yarnplay
I made a couple modifications for this sweater. I cast on for an XS however, I knitted the length of the S. I did that because I tend to need more length in the torso and arm areas. I also cast on 6 less stitches for each sleeve, which turned out to be a good move. At this point, the sleeve cuff fits very comfortably...not too tight not too loose. Other than those things, I knit the pattern as written.
This pattern was very easy and would be the perfect first sweater for someone to knit. I did have to remove the sleeve you see in my last post and re-do it to match the second sleeve. Putting the sweater together took me a few hours. I realized early on my knitting not to rush the seaming part....the part I use to hate most. Now I know that seaming is really one of the most important part of a sweater. If the finishing work is not done well then the finished item usually doesn't look that great....I know all too well from experience! So I took my time in putting this together and it was worth it. And then I had to knit the collar and I finished that last night. I will wear this sweater a lot this winter because it is sooooooo comfortable! And very nice to wear against the skin.
Now....here is some Eye Candy!
A fellow blogger told me that Little Knits had bad of Atacama Alpaca on sale for $35....that is 10 skeins for $35. So what did I do?? Immediately bought two bags! Nuts, I know. The blue colorway will be made into a sweater for Camille. I will design another one for her. Possibly a cardigan but I am not yet sure. She loves blue so when I saw that color I knew I needed it. The other color is for me! I will design something for myself as well. I have no idea what yet. I need to think on it and knit up a couple swatches. Both colors are very pretty and this yarn is yummy soft.
And of course another pattern I must knit from Wendy Bernard. I swear, I am waiting for her to come up with something that I will not want to knit....and it doesn't happen! Her pattern writing is so great and I admire her ability to choose the perfect yarns for the patterns she writes. I went ahead and purchased the yarn for Mentionable from One Planet Yarn and Fiber. First off, their customer service was outstanding. And second of all, this yarn is just gorgeous! Beautiful and soft. Can't ask for more than that. The sad thing is, I have absolutely no intention of knitting this up until spring! Another impulse buy. Wasn't I just complaining of my stash????
What is on my list? I am going to make Copperhead from Yarnplay. I started it but have decided to switch to a different yarn. I am going to start gloves for my dad for his birthday in five days (better hurry!), and I am going to make a long sleeve version of Glee. And then on top of all that I need to finish Camilles 3 inches of sleeve left on her sweater and work on designing another one. I know that it sounds crazy and but am doing something I love. So....it is all good!
lol! i have 3 bags of Atacama Alpaca now. 2 guys sweaters and maybe one for me???
drug you right in with me, heehee.
heard the spinning guild should start soon...will you get to go?
